Yup. I am officially a total nerd: I got custom sneakers made.
To be honest, I’m not even the biggest athletic shoe aficionado- but after doing a post on some black + white picks a while back, I’ve been totally obsessed with these Nike “Storm Trooper” high tops. Unfortunately I have no idea when they were produced and all that’s available online is deadstock in a size 9 (too big!). Lucky for me I had a lightbulb moment and remembered that you can make custom shoes on the Nike website (NIKEiD). I decided to give it a shot. Using a picture of the original Storm Trooper as a guide, I changed each part to match as closely as possible to my reference. The whole process took less than 15 minutes and within about 4 weeks my shoes were delivered. Easy peasy!
(Insider tip: if you create your order on a computer in the Nike store then have them delivered there for pick-up, they’ll waive shipping charges)
