Los Angeles sometimes has the weirdest weather. This morning was sunny and beautiful with the perfect mild temperature (I’m still in denial that it’s almost December, so I was pleased that I could go to work in a dress and sandals), but by the end of the day crazy “Hurricane Force Winds” came rolling through. Tree branches littered the streets and the power went out in numerous areas. That being said, it’s nights like these where I’m reminded why I took my apartment almost 3 years ago… The Fireplace.

Betsy

Betsy is my Buddha’s Hand Lemon Tree. I’ve had her for about three months and she’s already growing her first lemon! The guy at the nursery told me it would take a good year or two to get fruit, but at this rate I think we might be in business sooner. Pretty exciting since she’s the first plant I’ve managed to keep alive longer than a week. If my dad reads this, he’ll be laughing as he remembers my epic fail at gardening for a psychology project back in college- apparently I was not yet fit for plant parenthood. But alas, I’ve grown up and gained some perennial responsibility- Betsy is here to stay.

Since many of my friends in Los Angeles are from other places in the country (who’s really from LA?), I co-hosted “Orphan Thanksgiving” over at CR’s house. With a beautiful view of the city, weird but really good scotch drinks made by NK, and a beer can turkey- what more could a girl ask for? Nothing.
